Totals

If you are a neutral, which many Canadians will be as far as the NCAA is concerned, or if you are unsure who will win the game, then one of the best markets to bet on are the “totals” markets. These include the Over/Under points market, where your task as a punter is to gamble on whether there will be more or less than a set number of points scored. The numbers are created by the oddsmakers on BetFair and they change depending on the game played. If the teams are very defensive minded, for instance, and if many are expecting a low scoring game, then the total figure will be low, if many are expecting the game to be a high scoring one, then that figure will be higher.

You can also bet on how many points will be scored in each half, whether or not the first half will have more points than the second, which team will score the most points in the first half and which team will score the most in the second half, and many other bets. These are the markets that tend to offer the most variety and the ones that therefore get the most action. Accumulator

An accumulator is a bet that contains many bet selections, all of which are added together and all of which need to win in order for the accumulator to be a success. Our advice when it comes to placing a highly profitable and successful accumulator is not to stick with the Win/Lose or Spread markets. Many punters tend to do this, but they don’t need to. There is nothing stopping you from betting that Game 1 will be won by Team A, and that Game 2 will have over X amount of points, while in Game 3, Team B will be ahead at half-time. Mixing up your bets like this allows you to choose your favorite selection from each game, therefore increasing your chances of a return. We also suggest that you do your best to get odds of Evens or slightly less on all selections. Obviously you will get a much higher return if you land an accumulator where all bets are 2/1 or higher, but the chances of doing this with many selections are slim. Rather than increasing the individual odds, keep the odds on the level and instead increase the amount of selections that you add to your accumulator.

Special Bets

Special bets are not too common in the NCAA and you tend to find more of these in the NBA and other professional leagues, but they are still available. These allow you to bet on which players will score the most points, get the most rebounds, etc., You can also make bets on certain players, gambling on whether or not they will reach a certain target in terms of field goals, 3-pointers, free-throws, rebounds and more.
