Mr. Green Casino Canada – Review

Founded in 2008, Mr Green is a relative newcomer to the world of online casinos, but it has done its best to ensure it is just as respected and as well known as many of its competitors. In fact, you’ve probably seen their adverts, making their way onto televisions, billboards and computers around the world, featuring a clandestine man in a green suit, looking like a fully-grown leprechaun.

Is there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow though, or as the Irish say, is Mr Green all shirt and no trousers?

Slots

Mr Green uses a combination of developers to supply a range of slots. These include Microgaming, which are the oldest and probably the most well known casino developer, and there are also games from IGT, Net Entertainment and others. This creates a little originality in an industry that can be very repetitive. Of course, they are not the only casino to provide a mix of slots, but they are one of the better ones as they seem to have put some thought into the slots on their site, picking and choosing the best 300 or so from the 800+ on offer from those developers.

The slots are definitely the main focus here, but there is a healthy dose of table games and other games as well. As you would expect, the main new member bonus on Mr Green is a matched deposit bonus, and this goes all of the way up to $200, paid out over the course of your first few deposits. There are also other bonuses, some of which relate specifically to a handful of slots or table games, some of which only apply to loyal players. For new members who have already unlocked the matched deposit bonus, there are free spins to pickup as well, with as many as 100 dished out to those who continue to deposit. There are also promotions for every major holiday, including Christmas and Easter, but also Valentine’s Day.

Banking

The only issue with the banking options, at least from the perspective of a Canadian, is the fact that there are not a lot of options for us. However, the main ones are covered, including debit cards, credit cards, a handful of web wallets, eChecks, prepaid cards and bank transfers. The majority of options are there to cater for the UK and European audience though, which is where Mr Green does most of its business.

There is a minimum deposit of just $10, but be warned that during your first withdrawal, whether you are from Canada or not, you will be asked for proof of ID and will need to submit passports, utility bills, or anything else that can prove you are who you say you are and that you live where you say you live.

Customer Support

This is an area in which Mr Green excels. However, the same can be said for many of the newer and smaller online casinos, because it seems that as soon as they turn into something bigger, as soon as the membership numbers go from the hundreds of thousands to the millions, then customer support struggles. Companies look for cheaper, under-trained staff, and as a result you often get incomprehensible replies to questions you never asked, and only after waiting a ridiculous length of time. This is the case with sites such as Ladbrokes and William Hill, but we can’t fault Mr Green for something it has not yet become, and as things stand their customer support is responsive, helpful and very generous with free bets (hint, hint).

The best way to get in touch with them is via their live chat feature, which runs throughout the day and very rarely has a queue. This feature was only added in 2012, four years after the casino launched, but it has become the most popular and the easiest way to get in touch since. There are also email addresses and phone numbers, but for the latter you are restricted according to your location, and Canadian members may struggle to find a toll free phone number.

Summary

It doesn’t take much to make a worthwhile online casino these days. Throw together some decent games, a slick layout and some big bonuses, add some top customer support and away you go. However, many sites struggle with these basics. Mr Green definitely does not though and the only fault we could find with this casino is that it seems to be more focused on the UK and EU market than on us Canadians. We can still join though and in the end we’re all treated the same — its slots are not going to refuse a jackpot to a Canadian in favour of a Brit.

Mr Green could use a little polishing in places to make this a 10/10, but it is still one of the best casinos we have played for awhile and it easily deserves a 9/10.
