NetEnt teams with Metal Band to produce Motorhead Slot Machine

It’s no secret among slots makers that popular themes are the fastest way to attract players to a new slot machine. Manufacturers often try to team up with producers of a widely viewed blockbuster film or television series, and more recently, hit musicians, to add highly attractive games to their portfolio.

The guys (and gals) over at NetEnt, a world-class interactive games developer based in Sweden, were able to do just that – again. It was just announced that NetEnt signed a contract with the marketers of an immensely popular metal rock band to produce a new, inevitably desirable reel spinner – the Motorhead Slot Machine.

Following in the footsteps of mega-slots makers like Australia-based Aristocrat, who achieved ultimate success with the 2014 unveiling of the Britney Spears Slot, NetEnt first tread the waters of musical fame and fortune last year by partnering with 1980’s rock band, Guns N Roses.

That online slot machine was released earlier this year, just months just the group headed back out on the road for a reunion tour that began in – where else? – Las Vegas, Nevada. A few months later, NetEnt released the Jimi Hendrix Slot.

Motorhead Slot Machine

There’s little doubt the new Motorhead Slot Machine will find equal success in the realm of online gambling. Spanning 40 years of stardom (1975-2015), Motorhead – lead by its sole consistent band member, lead singer, bassist and song writer, Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister – is often considered to have been responsible for the resurgence of heavy metal music across Britain in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

In the early 1980’s, in particular, Motorhead saw extreme success with numerous singles that escelatedon in the charts on the UK Top 40. One of their most famous albums, and title track, “Ace of Spades“, is the thematic basis for the new Motorhead Slot Machine.

Not surprisingly, “Ace of Spades” will be the lead song throughout the new online slot machine, along with several other classic Motorhead titles.

“The Motorhead brand is synonymous with high-octane music and has one of the last real iconic logos in music,” said Gabbi Langdorf, Senior Licensing Manager of Global Merchandising Services, the official marketing promoter for the rock band.

Lemmy Loves the Slots

The creation of the Motorhead Slot is only fitting, considering Kilmister has always been a huge fan of gambling on the one-armed bandits. Such was revealed in the 2010 documentary, “Lemmy“, in which he’s seen seated at a machine while a friend is being interviewed, telling how the rocker would spend hours at a time, repeatedly pulling the lever.

One source even speculated that Kilmister got his nickname for often asking friends to, “Lemme have a fiver“, to recoup his gambling debts. Whether that’s true or not – who can say. But he’s shown multiple times in the documentary playing games, and has admitted being a big fan of the slot machines. It only makes sense for the legendary British rock band to be immortalized in such a way.
