Casinos are about to undergo a major evolution in the age of gaming, brought on by millennials who hold little interest in the monotonous droll of push-button slot machines. It’s coming by way of arcade-style video gambling machines (VGMs), with Atlantic City expected to be the first global gaming hub to install them.
Next month, we’ll get our first look at these new skill-based game designs from leading slot manufacturer, GameCo. The company announced today that it will demo its very first VGM, titled “Danger Arena”, at this year’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas.
VGMs aren’t your standard slot machines. They are skill-based games and have similar cabinetry to arcades. Once these games make their way onto casino floors, instead of seeing aisle-upon aisle of video poker and slot machines, it make look a lot more like the old arcades we spent rolls of quarters at as children.
GameCo Pioneers Video Gambling Machines
GameCo was the first to successfully develop a video gambling machine, and is very excited about the debut just a few weeks from now. Throughout the 3-day convention, attendees will be able to sample the new VGM, destined for placement on the gaming floors of Atlantic City casinos before the year it out.
This year’s G2E is scheduled for September 27-29 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, where GameCo will set up its ‘Tri-Pod‘ VGM Carousel. The latest arcade-style slots innovation will be staffed by company executives, as well as professional eSports athletes, to assist in the exhibition.
GameCo’s new VGM models will be displayed in three locations during G2E Las Vegas. The Tri-Pod VGM Carousel will be exhibited at the Integrated Resort Experience. Another will be available at the booth of Suzo-Happ, the company responsible for designing the video gambling machine’s game controller. And a third, hosted PC-based computer systems manufacturer Quixant, will feature the ‘Danger Arena’ demo.
GameCo CEO Blaine Graboyes will be on hand throughout the expo, and will be speaking at a special seminar on Wednesday, Sept 28, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. entitled ‘eSports and Casinos: The Coming Collision‘.
GameCo will also be hosting its own hospitality suite in the Venetian Palazzo, where interested vendors and casino operators can get more detailed information on the future of skill-based gaming and video gambling machines, and of course put in advanced orders for the new models.
“Fall is gearing up to be a pivotal time for GameCo, first with the impending launch of our VGM in Atlantic City, as well as our participation at G2E,” said Garboyes. “The debut of our VGM on casino floors will be an historic first step in the evolution of slot gaming.”
The GameCo CEO went on to describe the global casino environment as “an industry that is adapting for a new generation of players.” He extolled the upcoming convention as the perfect medium “to discuss and share our product with the international gaming and casino industry at G2E.”
Also this month, the skill-based slots manufacturer will debut a demo version of its first VGM product in the eSports lounge of the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The demo version is said to be a mirror copy if the new games set to launch on Atlantic City casino floors later this year, “but will function as a non-gaming demo device”, the company clarified in its press release.
