Two Manitoba Casinos begin 24hr Gambling on Weekends Dec 2

The provincial government has selected the Club Regent and McPhillips Station, both in Winnipeg, to spearhead their latest pilot project. The idea is to find out whether it’s a good idea to allow casinos in Manitoba to stay open 24 hours on weekends.

At the moment, Manitoba casinos are required to close their doors no later than 3am, and open up again at 10am the following morning. Except on Sundays, when they don’t open until noon.

New Schedule for 2 Manitoba Casino

Under the new pilot program, Club Regent and McPhillips Station will follow the traditional schedule during the week. On Fridays, though, the doors will open at 10am, as usual, but will not close again until 3am on the following Monday morning. If that Monday happens to be a statutory holiday, the casinos will remain open an additional 2 hours, closing at 3am on Tuesday.

There’s only one day out of the year that the schedule will be altered, and that’s for the Christmas holiday.

On Saturday, Dec 24, 2016 – Christmas Eve – the two casinos in Manitoba will close at 6pm sharp. They will reopen on Boxing Day (Dec 26) at 10am, ensuring that no staff members have to work on Christmas Eve night or Christmas Day.

The Manitoba casinos will continue to operate with these weekend hours for four months. At that time, provincial officials will review the new hours of operation to determine if the project was successful. If so, all casinos in Manitoba could soon be servicing slots fans and blackjack aficionados during all hours at week’s end.
