Microgaming Doubles Down with New HQ in Isle of Man

Mobile slots and casino games giant Microgaming gives employees more incentive to come to work as new HQ building opens on Isle of Man.

When we think of the countless team members behind Microgaming, working diligently to put out new mobile slots and casino games, we imagine all the fun and entertainment value they bring to players all over the world. This month, however, it’s the employees that are having all the fun.

The world’s leading developer of mobile slots and casino games has completed a massive project, more than two years in the making. On July 31, 2017, Microgaming held the official grand opening of its new HQ building, called “Sixty-Two”, located adjacent to its existing offices in Douglas, Isle of Man.

This is no ordinary business headquarters, either. Despite its remarkable size, the 45,000sqft, 5-story building only houses a little more than 100 employees. That’s because each staff member has been given ample space to brandish their creativity, and a multitude of amenities to fuel that passion.

Connected to the existing offices via a third-story sky bridge, the addition of the new Microgaming HQ has created more of a campus atmosphere for the employees. They were the top priority when designing plans for the new offices, fostering “a culture of collaboration and communication”.

In a press release announcing the new HQ opening, the mobile slots and casino games developer praised the project and its devotion to creative productivity. The building is home to “16 meeting rooms, hot desks, and phone booths, as well as plenty of break-out areas on every floor.”

Fun & Fitness For Mobile Slots Creators

Employees are sure to spend a good deal of time—but not too much time—on the fourth floor. The entire expanse is dedicated to employees as a communal area. It features a canteen and coffee shop, brimming with Microgaming’s own exclusive blend of coffee. While away from their desks, the staff will enjoy a variety of gaming options, including table tennis, darts, a poker table, pool tables and even a library.

The health and well-being of Microgaming’s employees was also taken into account when designing the new facilities. They have access to an in-house gym, and a large studio where weekly fitness classes can be enjoyed. There’s also a treatment room and rooftop garden said to provide “stunning views of the island”.

Guests of Microgaming HQ in for a Treat

Clients and guests will be treated with an ultimate experience from they moment they walk through the lobby doors. A spacious and beautifully decorated reception area was fashioned as a celebration of Microgaming’s many accomplishments throughout the years.

A massive demo wall showcases their newest games and esteemed awards. The employees were honored with a legends wall that glorifies the longest-standing members of the team. There’s even a periscope installed, offering a majestic 360-degree view of the Douglas landscape.

The cherry on top – Microgaming’s new HQ is environmentally friendly, achieving the BREEAM rating of excellence. It features multiple energy efficiency and waste management functions, including smart lighting, air quality and temperature monitoring.

Microgaming Takes Pride In Their Work

John Coleman, CFO for the mobile slots and casino games giant, found it “incredibly satisfying” to see the last two years worth of planning and construction come to fruition.

“A lot of time was spent understanding the needs and wants of our employees so that a building could be designed specifically with them in mind,” said Coleman. “All involved, including staff and suppliers, should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved – I can’t thank them enough.”

None were more proud than Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever, who’s seen the company rise from meager beginnings to the vast, world-leading mobile slots developer it is today.

“It’s incredible to think that when we set up Microgaming on the island back in 2001 there were just six staff. Now we are a campus in the heart of Douglas, with two large offices, and best of all they are connected by a sky bridge, which was a must for me!” he quipped. “It’s an exciting new chapter for Microgaming and I’m immensely proud of what we achieved in our home.”
