Red Tiger Gaming is preparing early for St Patrick’s Day 2019 with new Jack in a Pot Slot.

I’ve heard a lot of clever puns from manufacturers of slot machines when titling their creations. Red Tiger Gaming’s latest has to be among the top 5 in terms of inciteful humor. Its new Jack in a Pot online slot is meant to deliver the message that there’s a big “jackpot” to be had, while playing on the more recognizable phrase ‘Jack in a box‘, and for some (including myself), bringing a chuckle as memories of an old Saturday Night Live Christmas episode, starring Justin Timberlake, come to mind…

It’s doubtful Red Tiger thought of that last one. More likely, the creative minds in the digital gaming lab thought of a great way to kick off 2019 holidays with a St Patrick’s Day theme, based around as many casino luck charms as they could think of, and ran with it.

Jack in a Pot went live at online casinos in mid November. Its placement in casino lobbies isn’t too high at the moment, with St. Paddy’s Day being just over two months away. But no doubt, once the Christmas season and New Years are behind us, it’s going to soar much higher on each casino’s list of recommended games.

Like I said, good luck charms were at the center of the designer’s focus when building this new holiday game. They started with a trio of lucky 7s. Instead of the usual 5-reel setup, Jack in a Pot has a massive 7×7 reel grid, with a max payout of 70,000 coins.

The game, set on an Irish hillside, is hosted by Jack the Leprechaun and his shimmering pot of gold. Lucky symbols include a golden four leaf clover, the leprechaun’s shoe, horseshoe, green bow tie, spade, heart, diamond, club and sphere. All symbols have a tendency to stack, and payouts aren’t just based on left-to-right combinations, but clusters (adjacent symbols) of 5 or more.

There are four Wild symbols in the game—pint of beer, magic pipe, leprechaun’s hat and rainbow. Each has a different effect when it appears in a winning cluster.

Beer Reels: When a beer wild appears in a winning combination, it opens the beer taps above all reels involved in the win. Similar to a re-spin, all symbols on those reels are changed, potentially producing another win.

Magic Pipe: When the pipe wild joins in a winning cluster, Jack will blow his magical pipe, causing one or more high-end symbols on the reels to expand into mega-tiles of 2×2, 3×3 or 4×4.

Rainbow Swaps: When the rainbow wild takes part in a win, a giant rainbow shines upon the reels, randomly swapping out positions for matching symbols.

Hat Trick: When the hat wild generates a win, Jack tosses his hat into the air. All the low-end symbols are sucked from the reels into the hat, potentially creating big wins as the remaining symbols fall into place.

The Real Casino Luck Begins in Free Spin Frenzy

As interesting as all those wild features are, the real luck comes when players trigger the free spins feature. This is done by landing 4 Clover Leaf scatters (all 4 leaves of a clover) anywhere on the reels in the base game.

During free spins, all wilds that appear on the screen are collected. Then, just after the last free spin, the Frenzy Feature activates. All the wilds that were collected during free games will trigger their special effect, one after another.
