Join me in a not-so “elementary” investigation of the new Sherlock of London Slot at Microgaming casinos.

When I first caught wind and creatives of the new Sherlock of London Online Slot coming to Microgaming casinos in July, I was expecting a classic rendition, wherein the pretentious inspector and his sensitive sidekick, Dr. Watson, are portrayed as the prudent heroes. Instead, I’m happy to report the game’s creators went the route of comedic caper.

Rabcat designed the game to represent the lighter side of crime-fighting in the mid 1880’s, wherein gaudy criminals escape their confines, rob banks, and get captured all over again on the damp, cobble-stone streets of London. It’s a fun, lighthearted game with clever graphics, an energetic and humorous musical score, and plenty of features to delight the most demanding fans of online slot machines.

Sherlock of London Slot by Rabcat

Rabcat is one of Microgaming’s many exclusive partners, developing iGaming content for the industry leader’s multi-award-winning Quickfire platform. Famous for past creations like Gnome Wood, Moby Dick, Robin of Sherwood, and Castle Builder (I and II), this latest digital slot lives up to the quality of their former favorites.

Released on July 10, 2019, the Sherlock of London Online Slot is a 5×3 reel game with 25 fixed paylines. It has a bet range of $0.25 up to $25 per spin, and a max payout of 1,000 coins. Symbols include Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson, a trio of dastardly villains, a 221B Baker Street sign, and ornately decorated playing card values of A through 10.

Holmes is the wild symbol, and is equipped with a range of features that can trigger when he appears in single or multiple instances. Find out more about these and others below.

Connecting Wilds

When more than one Holmes wild appears on the reels, they will connect. The left-most symbol will travel right, then up or down as needed to connected with the second symbol. All positions crossed in his path transform into wilds as well.

Double Win Wilds

If two wilds appear adjacent on the reels – therefore unable to move and connect – they deliver a 2x multiplier to any winning combinations they are involved in.

Bonus Spins

If only 1 Holmes Wild appears on the screen, and lands on reel 1 or 2, a Bonus Spin is triggered. The wild holds in place for the bonus spin. If another wild appears on the bonus spin, it will either trigger the Connecting Wilds or Double Win feature. If no additional wild appears, a second and final bonus spin will take place under the same conditions.

Free Spin Scatter

The Holmes and Watson Free Spin symbol is the scatter. If three or more appear anywhere in the same spin, 10 free games are awarded and the chase is on to recapture the escaped villains!

Both Connecting Wilds and Double Wins features are active during free games. The base-game Bonus Spins feature is replaced with an Expanding Wild feature (see below).

Expanding Wild

During free games, if only a single Holmes wild appears on the reels in any spin, it will expand to cover the entire reel.

Extra Wild

During free games, the Dr. Watson symbol becomes and extra wild. He is only a basic wild, replacing other standard symbols to create winning combinations. The Watson Wild is not capable of triggering Connecting Wilds, Double Wins or Expanding Wilds.

Not the First Sherlock Holmes Slot, Nor the Last

The Sherlock of London Slot by Rabcat is just the latest in a long line of Sherlock Holmes stylized slot machines.
